Pit-stop Manhattanville, New York City
|
Pit-stop provides a series of structures in the Harlem Piers Park for bikers and park patrons to rent, repair, and utilize bike facilities. The unpredictability of elements present on the site from vehicular, pedestrian, and aquatic movement contribute to a chaotic cutting into the site that produces extreme obstacles at the bmx arena while simultaneously providing a procession of service pavilions. Each structure is oriented to maximize southern exposure to fuel the thermoelectric generators embedded in the thermal glass walls that provide electricity for their respective structure. The articulation of each facade visually and functionally responds to the electrical needs of the program housed within.
